Graham Darling

We recently had a virus(es)on our home Pc,resulting from
something my son tried to download of the Internet, but
which we have now managed to rectify. However,we seem to
have been left with some kind of 'hangover'in Office i.e.
1.Excel-when trying to open a file we get the following
message 'The file cannot be opened becasue your virus
scanner has detected a problem with the file'.
2.Word- 'The file xxxxx is not available'.
I have copied the files to a disk and manageg to open them
ok on another Pc and I have also deleted Office and re-
installed but still the same problem.
I am not sure if anyone can help/advise on this at all but
would appreciate any comments please?
Thank you in anticipation.
Graham

Hi, Graham. If you are running Norton Antivirus, disable the Office Plugin
that comes with it by clicking on Start | Programs | Norton | Options |
Miscellaneous | uncheck the "Enable Office Plugin" box. Even when the
Norton Antivirus Office Plugin is disabled, the Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect
feature will provide virus protection by scanning any file that you run,
download, open, create, or delete.
