Want to shut off port 135

If you have a hardware firewall, set port 135 to forward
to a nonexistant IP address on your network. For example,
if you use 192.168.1.0 as your network there are 254 IP
addresses that can be assigned to workstations. Typically
on a store bought router like Linksys, 192.168.1.1 is used
for the router. Let's say you have 3 computers hooked up.
That leaves 250 other addresses on that network that you
can forward to since there is no computer on them. Choose
one.

If you have no hardware firewall, use zonealarm, Tiny or
Black Ice etc. I use a Tiny freeware software firewall
when I am on networks with no hardware firewall. I don't
know if the freeware version is still available but it
works well with W2000P.

Install a firewall. There are several free ones (for personal use) like
ZoneAlarm (www.zonealarm.com) and Sygate (www.sygate.com)
