This question is a little complicated...

I have a emachine T3522. I use to own an hp media center computer till it
got destroyed. I salvaged the hard drive from the hp. I want to use the
hard drive from the hp in the emachine. Here is the thing, I have wamp
server, hmail server, and other self serving programs on that hard drive so I
want to wipe the emachine hard drive and use it as storage. How would I go
about doing that?

Simply add the hd to the #2 IDE cable, set jumper pins as required
(slave/master).
In xp,run, type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,R.click on the space for the
slave,select,
delete partition(s),create one,format.

Okay what about the drivers though... don't I have to download drives to
load onto the hp hard drive?

1st you need to know if you can boot that HP drive.......what version of XP
is on it??
Do you have a copy?? or does it reside on a recovery partition?
did it come pre-installed..like OEM version....or did you buy a retail copy
and install??
Because you will need to run a "repair" installation from an XP CD in order
to correct all of the Hardware drivers..or it will not boot.
You install the HP drive as a Master on the EIDE cable..in place of the
Emachines drive
You move the Emachines drive to the Slave Position on that Cable and change
the jumpers on the back of the drive to Slave or Cable Select......or just
leave it out for now until after you have "repaired" XP.
You then restart the Machine with the XP CD in place and go thru the new
installation procedure...till you come to the section where it asks you if
you wish to perform a "repair" installation....then follow the instructions
presented.
When XP is up and running shut down and install that old Emachines as
mentioned earlier. It will show up and you can then right click and format.

Thanks Peter,

The hp hd is a sata, supported by the emachine mb. I believe that I have a
disk some where, I have the emachine disk as well, it has recovered itself
the first time that i booted the emachine with out its hd in. the problem I
was having was getting on the internet. other than that it all seemed to
work quite well... except for the monitor, the old hp had a high def
monitor... that got distroyed as well... the colors were very off but it
booted just fine. It is partitioned, both hd are. So I am really wondering
if I can just wipe the operating system off of the emachine hd and keep the
back up partition j.i.c.

Noticed you really did not answer any of my questions.....an Emachine
Revovery/Restore CD will not work on a HP machine.
A HP recovery/restore CD will work on a HP machine.
As it stands thats the only answer I can give
