wallpaper image characteristics

Can someone tell me if the image to be used as wallpaper must have some
specific characteristics (because I'm using a 256-color bmp, and it doesn't
work):

- bmp, gif, jpg, etc.
- 16-color, 256-color, etc.

Or can it be any image.

I have to mention that I already added the registry entries the experts
mention in the previous discussions to my image.

Thanks for your help...

Juan Carlos

It can be any image, but you need to check your screen resolution and image
resolution - depending whether you want a pattern or a full screen.

I already checked that, and my screen characteristics I guess are enough
(1280x1024), the color quality is the highest (32 bits), and the refresh rate
is 75 Hz.

Now it's only working with an 16-color image.

I have a Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller, and to be able to
use this and the ELO touchscreen at the same time, I disabled the "Default
monitor" component.

Does everything look correct to you?

No. I get the same color depth.

I tried with the original .jpg image I want to use, and now it appears as an
option for a desktop background. And I chose it, and it works. Thats
perfect...but, I would like this image to appear as default background.
Everytime I boot I have to go to Display Properties/Desktop and choose it as
a background. And thats not what I want.

Contrary to this, with the 16-color image I tried before, this doesnt
happen. It automatically appears as the default background. And this is what
I would like to happen with my .jpg image.

I hope you can help me with this.

Best regards,

Juan Carlos
