I am going to start running wallpaper-changing software, as I get bored with
the same backdrop all the time. I have a folder with hundreds of different
image files in, which all seem reasonably suitable for wallpaper. Is there
a simple program that I can run to check the ratios of each image file in
this folder?

If you use Rainbow, it will keep the aspect ration and properly resize all
wallpapers. You may also set a maximum enlargement ratio, so that small
pictures doesn't get too big (loose quality).
