Hello,

About two months i have vista installed on my PC, and don't see any
important feature to tell my clients to upgrade to windows vista, if compare
to windows XP (SP2 + IE7 + Windows Desktop Search) y cannot figure out why i
should buy more memory and pay a lot for upgrade to vista... i would wait for
"Fiji" or "Vienna" maybe... what improvement will be in "Fiji"...

Isn't it kinda early to be asking that question? Vista just came out, the
next release won't be for a few years at least. Stay with XP and don't
stress.

If you can't find a need for any of the new features then you answered your
own question. Only use what you need.

Nothing has been officially announced. Even if some info leaked it wouldn’t
be reliable or accurate or final.

Yo--and LOL

I dunno. But Fiji ain't no Blackcomb or Vienna.. It's the next edition of
MCE (Media Center Edition) and Vienna is Windows Seven. How about Oceans 13
Surf's Up?. The team has said as much on their blogs.

Codename | Release Year

Freestyle | 2002

Harmony | 2003

Symphony | 2004

Emerald | 2005

Diamond | 2006 (this is the Media Center release built into Windows Vista
Ultimate)

and now Fiji 200?

CH

Thanks Justin,

Finally a answer with sense, no stupidity ... I have unsderstood than Fiji
was the codename for Vista SP1 ... Microsoft need more self-criticism, give
many space to linux in enterprise and mac in home...

Your answer was a waste of time ... for this answer you get and MVP ????

you imply that you are working with computers and have clients that you
service. Shouldn't you know that Vista just came out and that any
improvements or features in a new operating system are at least 2-3 years
away. With that, isn't it logical that what will be implemented in the next
operating system is still being designed? What people think will be in the
next OS is just a guessing game.

Bill,

I have read than Fiji was a codename to vista sp1, so i think that microsoft
is now work in that and give any improvement (i.e.: i read a new kernel
version, i think if the kernel change, if that means than Vista is not really
finish when they come to market, kernel is the SO core and if this change??,
read about a usefull toolbar, not a gadget dock, a really improved IU, not XP
SP2 + IE7 + Windows Desktop Search + Make Up, sound like microsoft don't have
R&D, just C&D, and worst becausse they are copying from 4 years ago) but i
don't know if they are in SP1 or vienna (or blackcomb or window 7) .... I
read than Windows Server 2008 is very ahead in development cicle compared to
vista released, so if this true, we can believe than microsoft can give some
new in SP1, or something than can be mature and recover from hibernate, or
can take lower time to begin compared with XP (and not replace the turn off
with hibernate to hide this) or wait to next OS release with my XP... this is
the question ... i 'm frustrating with 5 years waiting to vista (vista is a
sad history) ...

You're welcome!

I agree about the home part. My wife is due for a new laptop and I'm
considering getting her a PowerBook when 10.5 hits the streets. If she ever
needs XP she can run XP inside of 10.5. She likes all the pretty colors :)

It'll be funny when she hits her first snag as her niece is now in day care
and that day care offers IP cameras to view the children and they are only
compatible with IE. But like I said, she can boot XP and go from there.
