W2K Windows Explorer Multiple Selection

While working with a fully patched W2K server, and Windows Exploer, every so
often:

In Windows Explorer, I click on a file or directory down from the first item
and every one from the top is selected, just as if I held down the shift key
and clicked on each !

EVEN on the desktop this happens! click on my computer and a bunch of items
are selected... and opened!!!

A reboot sometimes fixes this, but this is a server!

Please, please - any ideas.

Thanks, but it's something else. I'm actually connecting to it remotely via
vnc and remote desktop.

Ummm... yes, I'll look at the mouse driver.
