W2K hangs

D

David M

I installed a video driver and now the computer will not
go past the Starting Windows 2000 screen; once the little
horizontal dotted line goes accross, it just sits there
filled.

It will not go into Safe Mode (including command prompt)
or even the last known good configuration; it just does
the same thing; I cannot even go into VGA mode only
(weird!).

There was no Emergency repair disk and my client does not
know his Administrator password, so I cannot use the
Recovery Console.

I have set the cmos for all optimized defaults;

All smart alecking aside, I am sure I am missing
something; anyone have a clue?

Thanks,
dm

Use recovery console to disable the driver that you installed.
Type listsvc and when you see the driver name, write it down.
Then you can type disable <drivername>
Then type exit to reboot.
