W2k - failure to load SP4 because of no Web access

M

Michael

Hi

I have downloaded SP4 and am trying to install it on a laptop that does not
have web access (yet!).

The process stops with a setup error telling me to go to the W2k Service
Pack Web site and select the 'Problems Downloading the Service Pack'.
Apparently, I can get information about downloading a version of the service
pack that does not need a Web connection.

I CAN'T EVEN FIND THE SP WEB SITE!!!

Can anyone help an aging newbie please?

Best wishes

Michael

Hi Meinolf

Thanks for your swift reply.

I am trying the link you have provided - it certainly looks differnt to the
one I have been using.

I don't know where you are based, but here in England it is getting on for
10.00 at night and I have an early start in the morning so I won't be able to
let you know what happened until tomorrow.

Best wishes

Be sure to apply SP4 and these two below to your new install before
connecting to any network. Internet included. (sasser, msblast)

Then

Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

Hi Meinolf

Very many thanks for your help.

I have installed SP4 and everything is great. I was even able to get both
dial up and broadband web access set up with no problems at all.

Once again, many thanks for your speedy assistance.

Best wishes

Michael.
