Vuescan has really slowed things down

I just upgraded to version 7.6.75 from .72 and I have now experienced a
major slowdown in buffering, and saving the images. I am running a p3 933
with 512 megs of ram and win2k. Scanner is a Nikon supercoolscan 4000. All
settings are exactly the same between .72 and .75 in fact I am using the
same ini file. I am scanning proofs at 2000 ppi and saving them as a tiff.
File size is exactly the same with .75 as it was with .72 at 17.6 megs. The
scan time is the same as before however the buffering cycle and the saving
time has gone from approximatly 30 seconds to 3-4 minutes. I was able to
batch scan an entire roll of 36 images in the time that I am now able to
only scan 6 to 8 images. Its hardly using any memory at all but it has the
cpu maxed out. I know that vuescan uses a majority of the system resources
but this is pretty extreme change between versions. Any ideas would be
helpful.

Downloaded, installed, and tested, and verified. Thanks Ed, once again you
have proven just how great this program is and the support is unmatched.
