Vuescan crashes with multiple samples on LS 5000?

Finally got to try scanning some Kodachromes with my new LS 5000. Very dark
scans at first (even though the slides seem correctly exposed), but after
allowing 1% exposure clipping things looked better. Tried the multi-pass
option next, but Vuescan crashes with anything larger than 1 in the 'Number
of Samples' box.
Nikon Scan seems to work fine in the multiple sample mode, so I don't think
that there is anything wrong with the scanner.
Haven't tried doing this with the strip adapter yet (not much use for it
with negatives).

Has anyone seen this problem?

Hello

I used the demo on my LS 50 with 8 passes, without a problem.

That's good to know, but I believe that multi-sample scanning on LS 5000 is
different than on LS 50 (provided in firmware and no movement required).
Just verified it, and Vuescan is still crashing when I set the number of
samples to more than 1.
I should have mentioned that this happened both with 7.6.78 and 7.6.79 . I
am running it on Windows XP, using an older PIII machine. It did not have
USB2, so I installed a rather cheap USB2 adapter, but once again, everything
else works fine, and Nikon Scan does not complain when multi-sampling.

Yes, I don't have this working yet. It's on my list of things
to do.
