Vuescan 8.0.3, Coolscan 5000, Multisampling + IR Clean Problem

I just acquired a new Coolscan 5000 and am having a problem scanning
in Vuescan 8.0.3 with the following paramaters: multisampling on
(tried 2 & 4 samples) and IR cleaning (tried light). This results in
lots of garbage in the scanned image. I tried multisampling without IR
cleaning and saved an RGBI image. The RGB channels look fine, but the
IR channel consists of a lot of patterned noise. Single pass scanning
plus IR cleaning works fine.

Multisampling plus ICE4 IR cleaning works fine in NikonScan 4, so I
don't think it is a hardware problem with this scanner. Anyone else
having this problem?

Thanks,

Sounds very similar to the problems I'm having with VueScan IR cleaning
on my Minolta 5400 since version 7.6.72 or something (with or without
multisampling). VueScan seems to detect more defects in the IR channel
than what is actually there - it looks like some incorrect threshold
setting. Ed hasn't found a solution and since I'm the only one
complaining so far I don't think it's top priority to him.
In your case - does it only happen with the newest version of VueScan,
and only in combination with multisampling?

I found the problem, fixed it, and re-released VueScan 8.0.3
with the fix. You can download it from:

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'll redownload it and see what I get.
On mine I was getting the images our of register with some colors
saturated.

I had just downloaded 8.0.3 on the 4th.

Downloaded early this morning and it works great. It's the first
program that has actually worked on multisampling for me.
