VPN Failure

I need to know how to specify my local and remote IPs for my PPTP an L2TP
VPN connection, my VPN server (on Windows XP Professional) did work at one
time, and I was able to remote into, but now I can connect anymore (don't
ask why it doesn't anymore, I haven't solved that as of yet), after any
exhaustive troubleshooting, I've been able to rule out my Windows Firewall,
my firewall on my Linksys WRT55AG Version 2 wireless router. A network
utility indicates that ports 1723 and 1701 have no IP's assigned to them,
they read 0.0.0.0. I believe this is my problem, I need to specify my local
IP as the current static IP assigned to this system, and make the remote IP
my routers address. The remote error I get from the client is 721 (VPN
Server not responding). I've attached a screenshot of the utilities
findings. If any body has an idea I'd like to hear it. I'm close to just
wiping the system and re-installing it....

Not sure the issue, but have you forward port 1723 to the VPN host? Do a simple test, can you telnet XP in the LAN? and can you telnet it from the internet?

On my Linksys WRT55AG Version 2 I have assigned a static IP to my PC, the under port forwarding I have forwarded the following:

IP Security (IKE (Internet Key Exchange)) UDP 500-1730 (I needed to forward ports 500, 1723, 1730)
L2TP UDP 1701
PPTP TCP 1723
Remote Desktop TCP/UDP 3389

I can connect to my router remotely and perform admin functions, I can remote desktop to my PC, I am to perform Remote Assistance to clients and friends, and I was able too (for about 2 months) VPN into my PC, but now it's like the VPN functions aren't picking up the signal request and I get a 721 Error. I use the VPN function as a tech to acquire any specialized software that I might need that I may have not brought with to a client location. And it's just nice to know I have access to my data and network no matter were I am. Just for an FYI I am no longer able to receive any my router log even though I have it set to forward that information to my PC to the Linksys Router logging software...
