VPN Error 721

I am having a problem with setting up a vpn server on a
SBS2K box. I set up the VPN through routing and remote
access. On a XP machine, when a client goes to log on,
it sits at the verify username and password. I have dial-
up enabled in active directory for users. What can be
done. This is happening at a few of my sites. All xp
clients have sp1 and hot fixes applied.

Are the clients going through a firewall or router to get to the VPN server?
If so does the router/firewall allow TCP port 1723 and IP Protocol 47 (GRE)?
Can a client on the same subnet as the VPN server connect?
