VPN connections not getting WINS option from DHCP

I have an RRAS server running for VPN connections. It gets IPs from a DHCP
server on the same subnet. The clients are getting the DNS servers but not
the WINS servers. I'd like to do away with WINS but it seems that PocketPC
still uses this. I read in another post that RRAS VPN does not use options
from the DHCP server, it only uses the DNS servers and drops all other
options. The post said this was by design. How do I assign a WINS server
then?

I don't have a DHCP Relay setup. Do I need to set this up? Will it help?

Thanks in advance,
jim

Hi Jim,

If you configure the RRAS server to use the Wins server the ras clients
will get the same settings.

Thanks,
