Good day dear members of the microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
newsgroup.

Is there any preloaded software in Windows 2000 Professional that
allows voice record as dictaphones do ? (My computer have a
microphone).

Many Thanks.

While I haven't used W2K in years I do believe that every version of Windows
has the program "Sound Recorder" under accessories.

Sound recorder can do this but has limited time. There is a cheat to get
around this but for sheer ease of use there's a program called Audacity that
will make excellent recordings, allow you to edit the recordings and do many
other things - it is also free. It's not exactly a "Dictaphone" but may be
you can work with it.

Files are saved in .wav format but a small add in can easily make MP3s.

Sound recorder, but it is limited to 60 seconds of recording time. There
are many freeware and shareware sound recording programs. I've heard
Audacity (freeware) is very good but I've used Goldwave (shareware) for
years and am very pleased with it.
