Thanks for your continued response Frank.

Can't oblige immediately I'm afraid as I'm working with confidentia
data and to upcoming deadlines, so the pasting workaround is takin
precedence. as soon as I get time this evening I'll try to recreate an
send you something.

Another thought is that the original data prior to unique filtering ha
conditional formatting which has been lost whereas the cell in A20 stil
has its conditional formatting.

would this produce the difference?

Hi
conditional formats should make no difference. I still suspect some
different cell formats (Text / Numbers) or invisible characters
