vital memory?

When I'm playing a game/program, its fine for like a hour but than a thing
comes up saying vital memory low. What does that mean? Its never happened
before and my hardrive is still 90% free, How can it be low? Plz help

How much RAM memory?Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task
Manager and click the Performance Tab. What is the Total,
the Commit Charge and the Peak?

Virtual memory, not Vital memory, right?

This is a problem with W98, but shouldn't be with XP.. Are you running
Windows XP?

Whoops, I was thinking of the two stacks that run out of memory in W98
machines.. my bad..

Sorry, I was gone for a couple days, but Im running windows xp and the total
is 337544 and the peak is 587684

I should have also asked what is the Commit charge limit?

A small utility to monitor pagefile usage:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_pagefilemon.htm

Use the Tool when you would expect to generate pagefile swapping and let
us know the readings.
