In general, since Microsoft has it on their website, applications developed
in VS .NET 2003 will run fine on Windows 98 and ME along with 2000 and XP.
But, as is evident from the message thread after this one, there are some
features that might not be supported on 98 and ME simply because of the fact
that they have a different OS architecture. It all depends on the kind of
application you are developing. I would suggest you research a little more
on this in terms of the features you would implement in your application and
determining their support for 98 and ME (of course, 2000 and XP shouldn't be
a problem).
Its hard to tell anything for VS 2005 as of now. But I would think as time
goes by, MS would be less likely to go the length to make stuff compatible
with 98 and ME. Also, its going to be while before the official release of
2005. If you're not in too much of a hurry, I would suggest you wait for its
release since VS 2005 is a vast improvement to VS 2003 with loads of new
features. However, thats only my opinion. You might want to take a few more
opinions on this
hope this helps..
