visual runtime errors for programs not browsers

I have been getting visual runtime errors for Norton , Direct x,xp repair pro,
and the list of programs go on. Many programs are find. I have tried registry
repair , chkdsk, file replacement etc. Absolutely no virus or spyware.
Can anyone help?

There is way too much crapware installed. Reinstall Windows from scratch
and stay away from Norton/Symantec and from any "repair" tools. And yes,
I'm absolutely serious.

In addition to Detlev's reply, don't use a registry cleaner. They cause
more problems than they fix.
