visual of sound and screen brightness

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. I used to be able
to see visual thing that showed up right above the clock whenever I was
changing volume or screen brightness

It might have something to do with your monitor/keyboard settings, sometimes
they do have this ability. Depends on what type of brand you have but check
manufacturer's user's manual and see if there's anything that you might have
disabled in their options menu.
