I am trying to write an event procedure to step through the records in a
given record set and copy information in a specific control. (on a form) I
am trying to use the Records.count argument. I keep getting errors, I am
stumped on how to write this. Help anyone?

You can use the RecordCount property of the recordset, e.g. rst.RecordCount.
Note, though, that the property may not return an accurate record count
unless you do a MoveLast first. This can be a performance hit with a very
large recordset.
