vista/xp network problem

I have a Vista desktop and an XP desktop connected on a wired LAN. Both can
access the internet. The Vista can see and access the XP files and printers.
The XP cannot see or access the Vista. The XP does not show any 'Network
Places'.
Can anyone help or suggest a source of info?
