Hi Jason :)

I ahve had the same problem with one of the Vista clean installs.

1. Open XP>right click My Computer>Manage>Disk Management. Can you see the
disk or partition with the Vista install on it? Does it have a drive
letter? If not, try gving it a drive letter by right clicking the drive or
partition and select Rename. Give it a letter. Make sure it says it is
healthy.

2. Download and install VistaBoot Pro on the XP drive, find it here:
http://www.pro-networks.org/vistabootpro/intro.php

Once installed open and click on the Manage Entries and see if you can get
it to list the OSs. You may get an error. If so, close out.

3. Pu tin the Vista DVD and let it come up, then select Repair and see if it
will allow you to do a repair. If it does, and you can get Vista to open,
install the VistaBoot Pro on the Vista, open, click Manage and see if the
Vista and XP are listed. If so, then click the Backup/Restore tab to save
the boot setup to a place on the XP hard drive.

If it is not there in the Manage Entries, then under the section Add Entry,
enter the drive letter you have given the Vista drive, and type in the name
Vista in the Entry name window. Click the Add button. Then click the
Configure tab and under the Bootloader section, select XP for the Default OS
in the drop down box to be your default OS, this in case the Vista still
won't work. Set the Boot time out for 30 seconds. Click apply. Go back to
the Manage Entries and see if the order of the OSs is what you want it to be
when the boot menu comes up on restart, Vista on top or XP. Highlight them
and move them up or down as you wish. Then click the Backup/Restore tab
again.

Then close out and restart. See if this will allow the new boot menu to
come up and allow Vista to open. If not, post back.

Hope this helps.

This is a edit to my last post:

i once more ran the repair setup, now it told me: "Windows cannot repair
this computer automaticly." After some searching trough the repair log i
found this:

"boot critical file: D:\window'\system32\drivers\rseb.sys is corrupt"

Now i'm not a IT profesional or anything but i can tell by the error message
that some driver that has to boot vista is corrupt. (might be wrong though) I
don't got a clue on how i might caused this all i did every single time after
the installation of vista was installing my WLAN driver and Windows live
messenger. I really can't see what's bad on that, maby the WLAN driver caused
the problem i don't know if it's windows compatible but it ran fine and i was
able to get connection with the net afterwards.

anyone has a surggestion that might fix the problem ?

Thanks in advance.

After a quick google search i found this:

now my ques is that it's spanish and i can't figure everything out, but it
does show me that the maker is ralink rechnology inc. (the manufactuer of my
netwrok card) As i mentiont before i only installed the WLAN driver with's
was from Ralink, so this might very well be the problem of the whole thing. I
ques i need a Vista compatible driver or something.

Hi Jason :)

You don't mention which build you are installing, I am guessing it is RC1.

OK....let's try another approach. If you can open the VistaBoot Pro from
XP, click Bootloader and set it for Uninstall Vista Bootloader (return to
XP)

Then go back to the Disk Management and delete that partition/drive. Then do
the following:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Click Tools>Folder Options>View and uncheck "Hide protected operating
system files" and click OK and close out of that function.
3. Close out of WE and then reboot.
4. Back in XP, open Disk Management, click on the drive or partition that
you deleted,
5. Right click on it and select new Partition, enter 40000 in the Volume
size window, click Next
6. Click the "Do not assign a drive letter" and click Next
7. Click "Do not format the drive" and click Next
8. Then click finish
9. Put in the Vista DVD in the ROM and restart the computer
10. When it comes up, select the drive where you want Vista installed and
Vista format the drive/partition itself.

It does not matter that it does not have a letter as Vista will see it only
as C:\ anyway. The install will take a little longer as Vista will format
the drive, but, I have found that often it is best to let Vista do the
formatting and set up on it's own.

See if this will help. Post back and let us know how it goes. It took me
several tries to get it

Hope this helps.

one more thanks for trieng to help me out. I preformed all your steps and
now i shall try to install windows vista on that namless partition i just
created, trough your steps. I did not know vista could format the drive
itself, though í wonder why a 40GB parrtition and not the 60 ? 20 GB is now
"flieng out in space" (i know i can add it to a other partition but... )

eitherway, i'm gonna give it a try now. Thanks once more.

Hi Jason :)

See information on the rseb.sys:
http://www.spyware-browser.com/items/-/126322/-/6/?sm=1386

If you did not install any program from this company on your computer, then
I would suggest that you run a virus/malware check on your machine, a it
could be infected and could be part of the problem. If you do have such a
program installed, then uninstall it until after you have Vista installed
again.

Hope this helps.

OK...then we have establised that this is likely a clean file. Check the
Vista drivers here and see if they are ones you can use:
http://www.ralink.com.tw/supp-1.htm

For your other device drivers, just go to the mfg webstie and see if they
have and updated drivers. For some, the ones for XP will work OK.
However, at this point in the development, updated drivers are still in the
hands of the vendors, and they have not been as qwuick to respond with new
or updated drivers as in past. This has created a good deal of problems for
many as their devices don't work properly at this point in VIsta. However,
this has been a problem mostly for gamers and/or those who are using the MC
for home entertainment devices. For othres, like myself, there are printer
and fax unit issues. Hopefully, not that Vista has gone RTM, the vendors
will be quick to get the new drives available.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

After installing windows vista on a new made partition of 60GB
formatted
as
NTFS, i got a problem after my first reboot. My Vista doesn't seems to
like
to work more then once after it's installation. I reinstalled vista 3
times
now (by formating the 60GB partition as NTFS.)Now this isn't done
really
quick i mean all in all including formating it takes me about 1/2 hours
(on
slow format mode.) And it's getting kinda iniong that i have to
reinstall
vista for everytime i wish to use it. -.-" Now if anyone could help me
solve
this problem i would be very greatfull.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the error message i get when i boot after rebooting vista (properly)

File: rseb.sys

Status: 0xc00000098

Info: Windows failed to load because a required file is missing or
corrupt.

(using the repair option of the instalation DVD wont help.)

thanks in advance,

Jason.
