Vista won't boot after update from XP ?

I have a PC running Windows XP Prof SP2. The hard disk drives are all SCSI
and the SCSI controller is an Adaptec SCSI 29160N Card.

When I try to update the Windows XP SP 2 to Windows VISTA the update process
seems to run as it should. But when the the update process is (nearly)
finished, after it has rebooted the PC more times, and reboots to start
Windows VISTA an error message appears saying something like "Windows can't
be found".

What can I do to solve that problem ?

Thanks in advance
