Vista vs PowerPoint - copying and pasting

Hello,
I have had a new laptop today which includes Vista and Microsoft Office 2003
and I'm having trouble with PowerPoint. When I click on an image/text it
automatically creates a copy or if I change the line spacing/font of text it
also automatically creates a copy and leaves the old version underneath. I've
turned off Smart Cut and Paste but it's still playing up. Does anyone have a
solution?
