Hello, I have installed Vista Ultimate on a single drive desktop and attempt
to backup the PC to an extermal harddrive connected via USB. At the very end
of the backup procedure after the files have been written to the external
drive (that's what the backup progress bar and the messages make it look
like) the backup fails with the following message:
"The backup did not complete successfully. An error occured. The followoing
information might help to resolve the error: If an MM error is returned which
is not defined in the standard FsRlt filter, it is converted to one of the
following errors which is guranteed to be in the filter. In this case
infromation is lost, however the filter correctly handles the exception.
(0xC00000EA)".
This error occurs when I attempt to do full computer backups but also when I
just try to backup files. The external drive (IO magic gigabank 250GB) works
well otherwise and there is plenty of spare capacity. The manufacturer does
not provide drivers that are specific to Vista.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply, I did not have the option selected. The root cause for
my issue was that the virus scanning software i use "etrust antivirus version
7.1" has defect that prevents backup from succeeding on Vista. If you select
Option " scan compressed files" in etrust the backup fails with the message I
reported.
