When I try to play a video in media center it says "One or more codecs
required to open this could not be found" The vid works on media player 11.
I think it uses the divx codec and mabe AC3... Any ideas?

This is an AVI file, right? If so, download GSpot:

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

and have it analyze the file. You'll probably need these codec (avoid
codec packs, they'll just **** everything up)

XViD: for recent DiVX/XViD movies
http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml
AC3: audio codec
http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/
ffdshow: for older DiVX (div3) movies
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow

i know the codecs i need. DiVX and AC3..... I have them installed and the
video works on media player 11. I just dont know how to get the codecs to
work with media center.

If you're running a beta build, updating the codec packages may not
work.

You have to wait for 64bit codecs. All those on the web are 32bit and wont
play. You can watch movies in windows media player, coz you use 32bit version
of it - try to run windows media player directly from c:\program files\....
