Vista system memory issue

Pls, Pls, help!!!

I am using a Sony Vaio laptop with 1 GB system ram. It comes with a built-in
Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 video chip with independent on-board 64 MB video ram,
and a shared turbo cache in system ram. But I suddenly realize that I have
problem with Vista's system ram calculation:
I run Task Manager, and display all the modules loaded in the ram, and sum
them up, I got 209,856 KBs, let's say video card takes 256 MBs system ram,
it should be 466 MBs, I have 1 GB ram, so it should be 466/1024= 0.455 =
45.5%, but the ram meter shows that 80% of ram has been used, who can tell
me where is another 34.5% of ram gone?
Pls, who can tell me? it's not fair. that's why my system is always crying
for ram.

That's because on the Processes page, on the Memory column, it doesn't show
all the memory the program actually uses. (I think)
When you click on View>Select Column, you can make other types of memory
usage visible. I don't know which is the one you want, but I always use the
"Memory - Working Set" column. The default is "Memory - Private Working Set"
and that one shows less memory than the other one.

However, the memory usage visible on the Performance page is really the
total amount of memory used.

1 gig of ram is a rather minimal amount for Vista, especially with shared
video. Why don't you use the Reliability and Performance monitor to see a
better display of your memory usage.
