Vista Special Folders showing default folder icon

I know this is a common problem and fixes have been posted on many
sites. However, the Videos folder is showing the default folder icon.
I've tried all the fixes I've read about including: editing the
desktop.ini within that folder to the default. Rebuilding
IconCache.db. Copying the Videos folder to that one in Guest account.

I've tried the utility DesktopINIFix. This actually worked but when I
rebooted it had gone back to the default icon. When I try to delete
the Videos folder it is restored on reboot with the default folder
icon.

Has anyone got any suggestions on anything else to try?

Many thanks!

Hi Shawn,

Many thanks for the reply. It worked after I logged off and back in.
But when I rebooted it was back to the same default folder as before.
A point aside in step 10 I had t use quotation marks around the
%USERPROFILE%\Videos because otherwise I was getting the error:

"parameter format not correct"

I assume this makes no difference.

Do you have any other suggestions because I'm completely stuck now.
There seems to be something happening when it is rebooted. I've
checked the desktop.ini and it remains unchanged.

Many thanks!

My Video in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Explorer\Shell
Folders is set to "C:\Users\MyUsername\Videos"

as are all the items there eg/ My Musice, My Pictures etc.

Hi,

Yes that worked. Many thanks! I created a new user account as you
stated. Interestingly when I deleted the old account the there was
still C:\Users\MyUserName\Videos.
When I tried to delete and rebooted it reappeared so I just made the
folder 'MyUserName' hidden. I think I'll just have to settle at that.
But I'm intrigued about what keeps creating that folder. Surely its
something in the registry?

Cheers!
