Does anyone yet know of anywhere or anyway that one can obtain a Vista
SP1 DVD, for a nominal charge, that one can use with the product key
that came with one's non-SP Vista DVD?

You don't need a product key to install SP1.

Are you on a high-speed connection? It's a simple download.

Call Microsoft and tell them you are having a you are not receiving SP1 via
Windows Update. I did this also told them I was on dial up so the so the
alternative download was not viable. Takes way to long. They did send me
the disk free of charge.

I think the OP is after an integrated SP1 that can do a clean install of
Vista with the service pack already included
I'd like a 64-bit one :)

Brian:

You are correct. Others seem to be misunderstanding me. Slipstreaming
SP1 in my original Vista DVD sounds quite problematical, if not
impossible, and I would like to have a Vista DVD with the service pack
integrated into it. There should be some way to get one for a minimal
charge by those who need one. For instance, if I've lost or damaged my
installation DVD, but still have my product key, is there no way to
obtain a new DVD without paying full price for a new product key?

Nope.

You need to slipstream.

Can you, then, explain how best to slipstream SP3 into the original DVD?

My apolgies... slipstreaming to Vista is not currently supported.

I probably thought I was replying to an XP group.

That's interesting, and I'll save the link, but unfortunately what I'm
looking for is 32-bit on DVD, which isn't offered there. But thanks for
passing on the link, anyway.

That link is for both.

No. That link offers *alternate media*. In the case of 32-bit, it offers
only CD's, which come in a 5-CD set. Not 32-bit on DVD.

Looks like you are right. If I were you and had the full retail version I'd
call Microsoft. I got one from my PC vendor for $20.00.

It was possible to order an anytime upgrade disk, but MS stopped that as
well unless you buy a new licence :-(

Daze - The product key is unique to a particular DVD. In interested in
SP1 - why not just install SP1?

N

Nonny

Sorry, nonny, but there is no way to create a "slipstreamed" copy of
Vista including the Service Pack without using a third-party tool.

You're too late <g>. I found that out just a short while after that
post.

Yes. That's what I had been counting on and then discovered that it
couldn't be had that way. That's what prompted me to initiate this
thread, hoping for a new solution to the problem of somehow getting an
integrated DVD for cheap.

It is nice to have an integrated DVD, don't you think?

If one needs to use one's original, non-SP Vista DVD for a repair of
one's Vista SP1 system, the disc will not contain the updated operating
system files required for correctly doing the repair.
