Vista shadow copy on PST files

I noticed that it takes a LONG time for Outlook 2007 to close under
Windows Vista, longer (I think) than it should. I couldn't figure out
why, then it occurred to me that Vista might be making a shadow copy
of the PST file like it does for other files. So the questions are:

1) Assuming my suspicion is correct, is it possible to tell Vista to
exclude .PST files from its process of making backups of user files?

2) How do I go about doing so?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I doubt that this is the problem.

The Previous Version Shadow Copies of files are automatically saved as part
of a system restore point. If System Protection is turned on, Windows
automatically creates shadow copies of files that have been modified since
the last restore point was made, which is typically once a day. You cannot
designate which files are selected for system restore.

Thanks, I'll check that out. The question remains in my mind, though:
are the PST files included in the list of file types that are
shadowed?

Hi Steve

The quickest way to determine this is open Windows Explorer and navigate to
the folder where Outlook stores the .pst file. Right click the .pst file and
select Properties/Previous Version Tab. If they are being backed up you will
see a list of previous versions there.
