Vista RDC

Let me get this straight, a computer trying to access a WinVista Ultimate
Host machine, MUST have a user accounted associated on the Vista Host with
the same machine name and login as on the client machine? So I would have to
add to the Vista Host, lets say, my Mom's machine name and login, in order to
access from her home XP machine? So using a machine at a library, or a
friends machine, would not be able to get into the Host?

One rant: Really don't like having "reset password" appear on the log in
screen when using RDC, seems to me could be a security breach IF for some
reason a 'gad guy' gets to that point. Any way to get that off there?

No, the login account on the Vista machine is local to that PC only. You
simply must have a user ID and password and the user ID must either be an
administrator or a member of the Remote Desktop users group. You can easily
add a Vista standard user account name to the authorized access list.

I always recommend forcing the client to always input a password when
connecting with Remote Desktop to my Vista or XP Remote Desktop host
machines...

ok, thanks, will give it another shot, tried from a friends machine, could
get to the login screen but none of the login/PW's I used would work, will
recheck my permissions.

Again they are all local to the Remote Desktop "host" PC whether is Vista or
XP. So as an example...

PC-A (Vista Remote Desktop host) has User-A (admin user), User-B (standard
user) and User-C (standard) user. User-A and User-B are in the allowed list
while User-C is not.

PC-B (Remote Desktop client) has User-D (admin user) and User-E (standard
user). User-D or User-E could logon to PC-A via Remote Desktop using User-A
or User-B's credentials, ie. user Id and password.
