vista problems and incompatabilities

I installed SP1 for Vista as suggested a while back and had no real problems
until about a week ago. Since then twice windows has failed to launch having
to do a repair, sys restore. Then I get a message from Norton saying that
auto protect is malfunctioning and directs me to a "tool" to fix the problem.
I don't know where the problem lies at this point is it Norton is it windows
SP1 or is it compatability? Frankly I am getting sick of the whole thing and
wish I'd stuck with XP. Any advice?

Drop Norton.

Simple and to the point, and probably easier than going through the whole
clean boot thing. I had no idea Norton had gotten this---difficult. Thanks.
