Vista Pre-install questions

Roxio EMC 9 does. I'm using it on Vista x64.

Also keep in mind a number of programs have drivers and even many fairly
recent versions don't have the signed drivers that Vista64 requires. Like
Roxio EMC 8. Installs on 86 not on 64.

Maybe if you can get it. I took your suggestion and tried to buy it while
it is on sale for Christmas. After ordering with no indication of size, I
started the download only to see it is twice the size I can download within
6 hours on my satellite connection. Stopped and signed onto XP X64 where I
have a download manager and expected to do it in two sessions. After 3mb
the download suddenly stopped with an access denied. Tried 1 more time no
luck. Tried thru IE7 since the instructions said it would restart and was
told that I had tried 11 times and had exceeded the 5 attempts allowed.
Wish the hell I had take Charlie's advice never to deal with Sonic. Hope
customer service will resolve this so I don't have to hassle thru the credit
card company. NEVER AGAIN for me with Sonic.

I'm sorry you had that experience. I needed EMC for another computer so I
bought 9 at Best Buy, so I had no idea it was that much of a hassle. I
think customer service will help you OK. Good luck with it because it sure
works nicely for me.

Just bought 8 about a year ago to work on XP x64. Used it about 20 times.
Had to turn DEP off for all features I used it for. Now need the new one
for Vista64. Hope you are right with Customer Service.

NEVER order it direct from Roxio. Not only is it more expensive, but
Roxio direct versions have had DRM that was not present in the retail
versions.

The best deal was at Buy.com. For all of December (and perhaps still),
Buy.com was doing "Google Checkout" instant rebates (not really a rebate
but an instant discount) of $20 on any order of $50 or more. At one
point, they had Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 for $51 with a $20 Google
checkout rebate (discount)AND a $30 upgrade rebate (this was a true
mail-in rebate). Between the two, it was ***FREE***

His problem stemmed from the fact that he bought it directly from Roxio,
online, as an internet download (not on a CD or DVD). It wasn't a
problem with the product, per se, but rather with how he chose to buy it.

Have they fixed the backup program to run on 64-bit since version 8? If so
is it a good replacement for Ghost?
