Vista+Outlook 2007 outbox problem

I have used Office 2007 for several months on Xp Pro. I recently upgraded to
Vista Enterprise (bought a new laptop). Everything seems to work ok, except
when I try to send a message (can be even a test message). Outlook goes into
a loop of sending - which it never really does, but looking at the
"send/receive progress" box, it continually counts upward how many tasks it
has completed. The task bar jitters as it goes through its routine. The only
way to close Outlook is to use "Task Manager" and end task. It asks if we
want to close while a message is in the outbox.

I have re-installed Office, replace the .pst file (which clears the problem
up until I attempt to send again.) I can not delete the mail in the outbox
unless I replace the .pst file.

I would really appreciate help in this -- I am extremely frustrated at
Microsoft.

Thanks,

Thanks,
A couple of possibilities. One, you don't have your outgoing server
properly set up in Outlook or two, you may have an issue with your antivirus
software. We have found a lot of e-mail issues with both Norton Antivirus
and McAfee which come preinstalled on a lot of new computers.

I had this problem, and it was to do with address caching. I deleted the
cached email addresses (when they pop up as a suggestion as you type in) and
reselected the recipient doing a lookup from the address book, and it seemed
to all go away. Once you have deleted the cached address once, the new cached
address created when you select from the address book seems ok.

Same problem here. If I do not use the email address that is suggested, and
type in the email address by hand, then the problem disappears. When the
problem does pop up, I have to end the process through the Task Manager. It's
surprising that MS didn't catch this bug.
