My new Dell Latitude D620 comes equipped with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M

When I plug it it works fine but when I try to work on my battery power then
the screens dims and is difficult to look at. So I went to the NVIDIA
control panel help and found that the backlight is dimmed by Smartdimmer and
it tells me what I need to do. Unfortunately, it tells me to go to the
"categories" on the control panel and select "Paramètres de portable" (oops,
my Vista is in French so I translate what I see, but it has to e something
that has to do with portables) and then select SmartDimmer. But even after I
installed the latest update, tonight, which added one category (TV and Video)
I still cannot find anyting that has to do with a portable or laptop or
SmartDimmer any where exept in the help section.

I searched the net but all I could find was someone complaining about the
fact that his NVIDIA control panel was also incomplete.

I don't know much about computers and need your help.

Thanks

Check the keyboard for the "fn" key + a key for bright or dim, usually a
symbol that looks like a sun or half sun. These controls are usually printed
in blue on the keyboard.
