Please can any one help, I have upgraded from XP to Vista and am trying to
publish to web my web site.
I know this may be not the correct forum, but am not having any joy under
Publisher community.

I am using Vista home & Pub 2007, previously with XP i published via my
network places, which is now missing as an option, i believe i must be just
trying to get a link in to my web host but when i suggest a link, several
link appear and i get programme not responding, has anyone used Vista
combined with publisher.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

I have used Pub 2002 and Pub 2007 with Vista Premium and Ultimate and
recently completely updated a web site my wife built with Pub 2007. I
ftped the files with no problem to the site locationusinf WS-FTP Pro 8.0
I have never used the built-in publishing transmission of any Publisher
version (going back to MS Pub 97.
Try a free ftp program like cuteftp.

Mnay tahnks for your reply, I know exactly what you mean as i have used wise
ftp previously, but due to having a web response form i have to upload as
html which requires creating a link to my server which when using xp was
actually easier.

Again many thanks for your help with this, i am just quite amazed that i
unable to find the answer to this as vista has been around a little while
now, and quite a few home web sites are published with MS publisher

I have seen another question about adding a ftp connection to My Network
Places, probably in another newsgroup.

I think the answer is to open Computer, right-click on a blank area, select
"Add a Network Location"
and use the wizard to create a ftp connection.

I use CuteFTP myself.

Dave, i have tried this which does allow to locate my server and view my
files, but the save option is not available during this set up.
The above produces a link in the nav paine / computer files / network files
i.e x3 links, i have tried to double click to enter no joy / right click
login no joy and get programe not responding and a white screen

I agree it should be as straight forward as you say, add a new network click
on this input user details then upload but this isn't the case on my part.

Any suggestion greatfully recieved

Although I was able to create the ftp shortcut in Computer, I was not able
to save to it directly in MS Publisher 2002.

However, I was able to do the following:

Open MS Publisher
create webpage
File - Export as Webpage
instead of going to Network places, type the name of your ftp server in the
filename box
ftp://your.domain.net
a ftp log on box opens
log on as user: xxxxxx
password: yyyyyyyy
ok
go to the directory you want to save to
enter the file name you wish to save, xxxxxxxxx.htm
save

Many FTP programs will do the trick.
I haven't tried to upload a page from Frontpage yet, I hope they didn't
break it too with all the AOHELL-like 'features' in Vista.
