Hi eveyone, just a quick question about the upcoming Vista. I heard on NPR
that Vista will be able to detect pirate software and after 30 days of
non-registration will lock you out of the PC. Is this true? Or did I miss
a few details?

Thanks

Darrell

If it's true, then Microsoft will have to pay people to persuade them
to use Vista. So I hope it is true.
Anyway, it was time Microsoft did something foolish like this to give a
boost to the open-source operating systems that will prevent future
corporations from holding the whole world to ransom.

Read the link I provided.. then you can make a comment on the way it will
probably be..

Re. Open source.. this term does not mean FREE.. there will come a time very
soon where all Open Source programming will be chargeable.. a fair
proportion already is..

So now who are you going to gripe about?

Wow, Mr Hall - Where did you find me griping? I am also happy about the
new security arrangement of Windows Vista. Though for a different
reason. I just want the open source systems to occupy a greater share
than they have been doing till now. And I don't want them FREE - I just
don't want spies working on my system keeping a check on me when I am
the legal owner of all the hardware and software under my control.

In the eighties Microsoft benefitted from the mistakes that Apple did
in opening up their system to users and their pricing policy. I see
that happening all over again, but with MS at the other end of the
wheel.

Mr Hall - you and I form a microscopic dot in the world of users who
largely depend on the cheapest workable option. Till now it was
Microsoft. Tomorrow I hope it will be different. That will not detract
from your shining achievement of MS MVP User.

Regards
