Ok, i went ahead and got Vista and when i tried to install the thing it takes
forever!! and efter the 30min wait it begins the install. then i the middle
of the install it gives me a blue screen of death. this process always
happens after the unpacking of files. the error is as follows:

***Stop:0X0000000A (0X0000000F, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0X8881DBE2)

and this is at the top: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

so after i tried like 5 times i gave up and went and got XP Pro

the install for XP goes perfectly smoothly untill it is over. when windows
goes to startup it just restarts over and over. it can never make it past the
widows loading screen (the one with the moving bar).

Now i dont know what to do, please help!!

I would reformat the drive and do a clean install of whichever OS you want on
the machine. You can format the drive after you boot from the CD or DVD.
