Hey,

Can someone tell me how to set up the folder options to display the number
of subfolders or items when its selected. It used to display in the bottom of
the folder window but got disabled. Any folder clicked on would display in a
small footer the number of items stored in in and size.

Any ideas please help...

If I've understood your request correctly, it would seem as though your
Details Pane has gone missing.

Click on "Organize", then "Layout", then "Details Pane"

Did that do the trick?

Hey,

Thanx for the info but i guess i'd ahve to look for a good free one to use.

Can u tell me what's the special use of Windows media Center as comparedto
organizing everything in Win Media PLayer instead?? Can't quite see the use
of it.

Bart,

"Acronis True Image" is the only one I use these days. It's not exactly
free, but it works on both Vista x86 and Vista x64, and it has some
features that knock the c*** out of Norton Ghost...

Check it out - 'Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery
in Windows and Linux - Acronis' (http://www.acronis.com/)

Windows Media Player is used when you're working on your computer AS a
computer.

Windows Media Center is used when the primary function of the computer
is to be used as a TV/PVR, and the display is a TV Screen or large HD
monitor. It can be set to be the primary interface to Windows itself, as
opposed to Explorer and the desktop...

I don't know about a column in WMP called CUSTOM, but I do know that if
you go to the "Library"->"Songs" view, you can right-click a column
header, then select "Choose Columns...". In the "Choose Columns" window,
find and check the "File Path" entry. Click OK.

The location of the item will then be displayed in the Songs view...

Ok, I see it now. But no idea what "Custom 1", "Custom 2" or "Data
Provider" is used for...
Any more info on Windows Media Center??

Not personally, but perhaps Paul Thurrott's blog can shed some more
light for you -

Does Webshots work well with Vista or some compatibality issues??

No idea. I've never used the Webshots software. I usually download a
gallery and extract the individual JPG files and use them as and when I
want.

But if it's wallpapers you're after, my all-time favourite source for
the best wallpapers is http://www.sexydesktop.co.uk/. I've been visiting
SD for nearly 3 years now, and I still haven't gone through their entire
library...

Hey,

Thanks for the links. I downloaded and installed the codec pack but still no
difference with Media Player. Am i supposed to do something else or change
some settings?? Even if i'm connected to the net it does'nt automatically
download, just said codec acquired n then stops.

As for the themes, the site is great but decided against spoiling hte look
of vista after all. Will the codec's work with Window's Movie Maker as well??

Cheers...

The is use the Codec Pack available here : 'Vista Codec Package
Homepage' (http://shark007.net/). Just be sure to download the correct
32-Bit or 64-Bit version for yout Windows Vista.

As far as themes are concerned, I'm the absolute last guy to ask about
those - I believe that skinning or re-theming something beyond the
original design is a cardinal sin and is punishable by death.

But if you -really- want to change the default windows themes, try
'Stardock.com - Your Edge In Software' (http://www.stardock.com/).
