vista complete backup fails

When I try and do complete pc backup on newly installed vista I get the
following error:

"Not all volumes containing system data are included in the backup
(0x80780018)"
As I was preparing to do this backup for the first time, I selected both c
and d drives. I can backup files successfully and when I do that process I
see both drives selected. Is there a way to make sure that both volumes are
still selected? I originally had upgraded Vista from XP but after reading
that a new install is better I went ahead and did this. The Vista files are
on the C drive and data is on D drive. Both are NTFS. C drive is an IDE
drive and D is a SATA drive. Anyone have any suggestions? I had rather do a
complete pc backup even though I have backed up all files with the other
option. Thanks!
