Vista cannot connect, XP can

I have two programs, H&R Block's TaxCut & Orca, from www.pdc.wa.gov, which
will not connect to upload data on Vista Home Premium 64. TaxCut will not
register, will not update, and will not efile on Vista. I can open a browser
and access the sites but no luck getting the programs to upload data with
Vista. I was about to paper file my taxes when I tried my wife's computer
with XP. It is virtually the same computer, except for OS, hooked to the
same DSL via the same modem running the same Firewall / anti-virus program,
Kaspersky. The programs work flawlessly on XP but not on Vista. Any idea
why?

Are those 2 programs Vista compatible?
And have you checked at their sites from your wife's computer to see if
there are updates or patches for them to make them Vista compatible?

You could also try installing them in XP SP2 compatibility mode.
On their setup.exe or install.exe>right-click>Properties> compatibility Tab>
XP
SP2 mode

The other thing is all Govt dept's here use the latest PDF files for just
about everything!
Go to Adobe, and download the latest version of their PDF reader.

You may want to add the TaxCut to the Trusted Site. This post may help.

zone. If above suggestions don’t fix the problem, ... 2) Windows 2003 Std

Mick,

Thanks for your reply. Both are suppose to be Vista compatible. They
installed under Vista without problem, can be used under Vista in terms of
entering data, but cannot connect to the internet to upload data.

For example, H&R's TaxCut will not register owner's information, will not
update and will not allow income tax date to be efiled with the IRS although
all data for the income tax can be entered and is properly calculated.

I'm suspicious the problem resides deep insiderthe bowels of Vista's screwed
up security concerns but have no idea where.
