Hey guys found another bug. Test and see if the same thing happens to you.
If I go to "Control Panel", "Hardware and Sound", "Device Manager", "Display
adapters", "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS", I get a flashing ? and X at the upper
right hand corner when I leave the mouse pointer over the ? or X. Try it and
let me know if you see the same thing!

hmmm... strange, I don't have a applet labeled "Hardware and Sound". Anyone
else?

Maybe you have Ulitmate and the OP has Home Basic/Premium... I have Ulitmate
and do not see a "Hardware and Sound" CP applet.

Yes, I see what you are talking about. It is so subtle however that it took
me quite a bit of time to find it. This is a kind of minor bugs that can sit
there unnoticed for years. Like another one that was recently reported on
russian Vista newsgroup:

While you are still in Device Manager window (or in any MMC console window
for that matter), click View, select Customize. Now, try to close Customize
View window using red X button. It just won't close. You can try to do same
on XP but I'll tell you it doesn't work there either.

I wouldn't consider that to be a bug.

In XP (not using vista here) there is a clickalbe button at the bottom on
the right saying "Ok" (in the english version).
Logically this would be because if you don't want to change the view....
just don't change anything and press Ok.

And for that X, it's grayed out actually and that's it's not 'working'.

OK, what if you changed some settings but then changed your mind and... duh,
you don't remember initial settings? Uh.. and where's Cancel button by the
way?

It is a bug though minor one. If there's no function for a button there
should be NO button. If there's a button that has a well known function and
it's not working, it is a bug. Dimmed button in XP, OK, I'll give you that,
probably that saves it from being called a bug but in Vista... well, why
it's not at lest dimmed as in XP?

then spend time giving feedback they will never read

lol if they read feedback, vista wouldnt be such a disgrace!

why do you waste your time in a vista newsgroup? im honestly curious, if its
such a disgrace?
for example i think child molesters are a disgrace... and if they had a
newsgroup, i would make it a point to NOT spend my time in there. are you
that pathetic that you have nothing better to do with your life?

J

jim

oh I have better things to do...

But vista bashing is my hobby.... :-D

on the other hand it seems that vista worshiping is your life!

Wake up.. there are other things in life than vista! Surprise!

It's in Control Panel Home (formally Category View) as opposed to Classic
view.

Care to share definition that leads you to think it's not a bug?

The ones I know define a bug as an error in software that leads to
unintended behavior.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug

If you have a button with well known function that performs NO function, how
would you call it?..
Unless I see it documented somewhere, I consider it unintended. E.g. a bug.
