vista booting problems after loading software

I've just purchased vista preinstalled on a toshiba laptop. I've attempted
to load software onto it three times and each time, after I load it and then
turn the system off, when I turn the system on again, I have to start it in
safe mode. Then the only thing that I can think of to do is a system restore
to a set point prior to my software installations. ( the software is
primarily microsoft products)....hard to use a computer without software!!??
any thoughts anyone?

Hi Cher--

You could also tap F8 and use LKG(Last Known Good Configuration) in addition
to any restore points you might have in case they don't work. What you
don't have, because MSFT intended that you not get it, is the chance to use
what they developed to repair Vista--the Win RE environment of tools.

You don't have this because MSFT forces the computer sellers aka OEM Named
partners through the office of their OEM VP Scott Di Valerio at Redmond
(who is an accountant and not trained as a software engineer) not to send
you a DVD.

If you purchase a Vista DVD which you should have told the computer
manufacturer to send you or you wouldn't have invested 1-4 grand in their
computer, then you can access the Recovery Environment from the DVD and do a
Startup Repair.

Dell is shipping a Vista DVD with all new computers free of charge.

Cher - you need to explain fully - are you getting any error messages - what
does the screen look like at boot - to what "software" are you referring -
what option do you choose in safe mode - does the software function before
shutdown?
