but ive lost the cd.
I got importent files on the harddrive that i need and Vista wont load.

Ive searched all over and only found it on a few torrentsites but there are

Hi,

You have a couple of options:

a) Find a friend who has RC1 still and borrow his/her disk

b) Purchase a retail copy of Vista and install without formatting, then take
ownership of the files (provided you did not encrypt them)

c) Pull the hard drive and slave it in a working desktop, computer shops
sell adapters for this. Copy off the needed data files.

Get yourself a copy of Knoppix (Linux Live CD/DVD). Once it's up and
running, copy the folders with the files/folders you want on to a
flash drive or external hard drive.

Knoppix has saved my butt many times.
