Vista and Rimax HD

Last year I bought a Rimax Slim 3.5" external drive. I connected to my
laptop (with Vista OS), which recognized the HD just once. I took the Rimax
back to the store. They said that others had had the same problem with
Vista, but that the Rimax company was intending to produce a new driver
which would make the HD compatible with Vista. (That's what they said,
anyhow.)

Six months later I try to use the HD with the laptop, and it still isn't
recognized. What's more, there don't appear to be any new Rimax drivers.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks

Ok. I've got the laptop to recognize the Rimax HD. What's wrong with the
following plan?

1. I install Windows 2000 as an OS on the Rimax.
2. I install Ghost on the Rimax.
3. I take a mirror image of my Vista-driven laptop.
4. If anything goes wrong with Drive C, I change the boot order, boot from
the laptop, run Ghost, and re-lay Drive C back onto the laptop.

Will all that work?

Thanks.
