Vista and Public Wirless

I do a lot of travelling for work and bring my personal laptop and my
company laptop too. My company laptop runs XP Pro and can detect and
connect to pretty much any unsecured wireless signal in any airport, hotel,
etc... When I boot my laptop with Vista a Home, It will detect the network
but only give me local access and won't automatically connect to the
internet. Is there a setting that I am missing that will allow an automatic
connection to the internet on public ireless or has Microsoft gone to far
with the Vista security?

Amy information would be helpful.

Hi
Your home network is opened (Not secured)?
If it is secured it probably a security key issue.
The connected message might be related to a signal detection but Not to an
indication of a real functional connection.
