Vista and applying a WIM file

After I create an image file of Vista in WIM format using Imagex.exe, I then
apply the image to another identical machine but it does not boot. I have
to insert the Vista DVD and run REPAIR from the second screen after language
settings and all is well.

How do make sure that after I apply the WIM image on another machine that it
boots up withOUT having to run repair?

Thanks.

How are you partitioning the new PC hard drive prior to applying the WIM
file?

Assuming that both PCs (the original and new) are a single HD with only 1
partition...

1) Boot a PE disk to a command prompt
2) diskpart
3) select disk 0
4) clean
5) create partition primary
6) assign letter=c
7) format fs=ntfs quick
8) active
9) exit
10) apply WIM with ImageX /apply
