Vista Accessories

David

I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium installed. The Start menu does
not show the accessories folder. How can I find it, or do I need to install
it again?
Thank you.

Hi David,

It would normally be under "All Programs", but not part of the initial menu
that appears.

Open Windows Explorer to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs, do you see the Accessories folder here?

Thank you, Rick. The folder is there, but I cannot get it added to the list
of programs that shows up when the Start button is pressed. Should I be able
to do so and, if so, how? Again, thank you.

Hi,

You should have to click the "All Programs" line just above the search line
in order to see that one. If it still doesn't show, is it possible that you
have applied a hidden or system attribute to it?

It is not hidden, and the properties appear to be the same as other items
that do show up, so I really don't understand. However, I have been able to
pin a shortcut to the Start Menu, so at least I can easily get to it.

As to application of a System attribute, (1) the Accessories folder did not
show up on the Start menu when the computer was new out of the box, and (2) I
do not how to change/restore it.

Thank you again.

Hi David,

Are you clicking on the "All Programs" line after clicking on the start
button?

Oh, yes. Everything else shows except the Accessories folder. All the other
folders/programs listed in the Start folder show up. Only Accessories does
not. However, at least I now have a shortcut to the folder.

Again, thank you for your help -- it is kind of you.

You have a laptop new right out of the box with Vista pre-installed. What
you should be worried about right now is making that Vista O/S
Restore/Install dvd disc, which the computer manufacture should have given
you documentation on, and making sure Restore Points are active on the O/S,
because otherwise, you might get 3rd degree burnt.
